BA #5 Jack Randa Hotel

The main secret throughout this whole story is the fact that Will and Gail both truly love each other but both of them don't want to admit it. When Will goes off to Australia with Sandy it killed Gail inside and she wanted to do whatever possible she could do to find him again. Another secret was that she told everyone she was going on some trip to Europe when she was really just going out to find Will in Australia(168-169).
I think a secret that Will is keeping from everybody else is that he really doesn't want to be with Sandy. He likes that she is younger than him so that is a plus, but when he goes to Australia it seems like all he is trying to do is find someone out there other than her to become friends with and acquainted with. This can be seen in the letters between him and Ms. Thornaby. They weren't even related and he was just trying to find someone else to talk to and build a friendship with because he was unhappy.
To go along with the main secret of them both truly loving each other it comes to proof when Will starts sending Gail(Ms. Massie) letters telling her that he basically still loves her(188).

I agree with you JP on how Will just wanted someone to talk to. I think deep down he knew it was Gail because, on page 183 he knows that he is talking to a "fashion buyer" Gail use to own her a clothing shop....I do fell that he wanted to see her..and meet with her to relive that life that he had with her before...when he was with Gail he was never bored..you can tell now that he is with Sandy there is nothing for him to do...I do agree that he wants her...

I believe that Will is hiding the fact that he still loves Gail. He went to Australia to start a new life and make new connections, rather than be with Sandy.
The secret that Gail keeps is her destiation, which is Australia, rather that Europe as she had previously stated. I believe these two were caught up in a game of "cat and mouse" where neither of them knew who was the cat and who was the mouse.

I also agree with the fact that they both secretly want each other again, but won't let on. Although she may try to hide it, the way she feels about Will is completely obvious to the reader, especially since she packed up her bags and flew half way around th world, going on nothing more than a letter that Will had sent to his mother. Will's feelings on the under hand was a little trickier to find out. It's Gail's point of view the whole story so you don't really know what he's feeling. I wasn't convinced until the very end when Will starts sending those messages to Gail. Not only is he going borderline creepy with them, but those notes screamed "I want you back and I made a mistake.'

I agree that Will and Gail both probably have feelings for each other. I’m not to sure if Will knows that he misses Gail as much as he knows that him and sandy aren’t going to work out. I think he was just coming to the realization that his life wasn’t going as he planned and probably began to realize all of the positive qualities he misses about Gail.

I'm not to sure that I agree that they both still want each other. Gail wants Will back, that is obvious, but I don't really see anything that makes it seem that he would want her back as well. He write those letters, yes because he is lonely and bored being with Sandy, but he writes them to what he thinks is a complete stranger. If he wanted Gail back, I feel that he would have just wrote to her personally, he had no problem leaving her to be with someone else so I don't think he would have a problem leaving Sandy if he realized Gail was what he truely wanted. Once he figures out that the letters being written back to him are Gail, he does try to talk to her and find her in person, but I sensed that he maybe seemed alittle more angry with her for stalking him and pretending to be someone else rather than trying to find her and be with her again. It is hard to know what they both really feel, however I think that Gail is the only one trying to start their relationship again and the reader will never find out what happens because it ends abruptly with her sending him a letter in a box saying that its up to him now to find her, be we never will know whether he does or not.
